The Old Bank 57 Fairfax Street, Murchison (opposite the Museum) Ph: 03 5239 421
The Old Bank, a spacious self-contained apartment, is ideal for families or groups as it will comfortably sleep up to ten people. It is owned and run by Mary and Phil Rickard; well travelled themselves, Mary and Phil love to meet and greet the people who stay with them.
With over a dozen rivers and streams in the surrounding area, Murchison is an absolute paradise for fishermen and the title white-water capital of New Zealand suggests there are plenty more energetic activities to be found locally too. The district is also steeped in history from the days of the gold miners and early settlers and visitors to the area can try their hands at panning for gold and go to see the Buller Gorge swing bridge (the longest of its type in New Zealand) and the Kahurangi National Park.
The comfortable accommodation at The Old Bank is very popular with visiting anglers who can choose to cook for themselves or eat at nearby cafes. There is plenty of off-street parking at The Old Bank and there are three restaurants within just 200 metres.
